** APM Certified Course **

The APM Project Management Qualification (SQCF Level 7) is a qualification aimed at project professionals who are looking to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of all key areas of project management.

The qualification is intended to help you achieve knowledge and understanding of all areas of project management that will support you when you are involved in projects from individual assignments through to large capital projects. You’ll learn how project management elements interact and how projects fit into a strategic and commercial environment.

Candidates are most likely working in a project environment with 2-3 years of experience as a project professional or be actively undertaking a project management apprenticeship or degree.

This qualification is perfect if you are aiming to advance your career, enhance your employability, and gain a broad understanding of project management without focusing on a specific methodology.

Note: This Session is a 3 day session within 2 weeks from 11th, 12th, 13th  and 18th, 19th and 20th August

This two day course provides an understanding of the background of affordable housing and its context within and the wider housing sector and an overview of the key stages, events and issues in developing housing and regeneration schemes from site identification and scheme inception through planning, handover and project completion.

Led by our Development expert Neil Clements, this is a free, virtual, surgery-style post training follow up session to raise any outstanding questions you may have following attendance at any of our M3-HATC development training courses.

This two day course follows on from Understanding the Development Process, and looks in more detail at the early stages in development management, including site finding, negotiation, valuation, project planning and the conveyancing process. Including undertaking feasibility studies focusing on common legal and technical issues that arise on housing development sites.

This course is aimed at those with 6 months+ of experience in a relevant role OR those who have undertaken our Understanding the Development Process course.

This one day course explains the main ways in which financial viability for housing schemes is assessed, covering housing for rent, shared ownership and outright sale. It explains terms such as yield, payback, discounted cash flows, net present value, internal rate of return and others, so that users of viability appraisal tools understand what these figures mean.

Covering the following subject areas:

1. Common Financial Appraisal Methods (vs Valuation Methods)
2. Profit / Loss
3. Cost / Value
4. Payback Period (simple)
5. Gross & Net Yields
6. Discounted Cash Flows
7. Net Present Value
8. Internal Rate of Return
9. Viability for planning (NPPF process)

This two day course follows on from Understanding the Development Process, and looks in more detail at how to appoint & manage the design team and the design process, identifying typical design issues and the importance of effective design review. The course then moves on to the planning system, forward planning and development control, planning polices, the process, conditions and obligations.

** APM Certified Course **

The course helps delegates to control their schemes more effectively, and introduces tools that help deal with typical day-to-day problems and issues faced by Development & Regeneration staff. It is the first step towards a professional qualification.

The Association for Project Management’s (APM) Project Fundamentals Qualification (previously called the Introductory Certificate in Project Management) is designed to enable successful candidates to understand the language of project management and the structure of a successful project. After attending the course, delegates will be able to take an active part in a project team and make a positive contribution to any project environment.

This course is suitable for:

1. Development / regeneration / asset management staff involved in delivering projects who have not had training in formal project management
2. Senior executives and Board members who want an overview of project management, to better understand good practice
3. Housing Management, Lettings, Sales, Maintenance or Community Regeneration staff who contribute to the development of new housing scheme or have to deliver other projects (such as a review of void management processes, establishing an effective Resident Panel, re-tendering Term Contracts etc)
4. Anyone intending to progress to the professionally-recognised Project Management Qualification

This two day course follows on from Understanding the Development Process, and looks in more detail at the construction procurement process, types of building contracts focusing on the JCT D&B 2024 form including important clauses and their application, an overview of the stages and elements of construction and then how to be an effective client during the construction, including managing the contractor and team and then managing handover and the defect management process.
