Financial Viability for Planning

This training session is designed to explain and demonstrate the financial viability process required by the National Planning Policy Framework. We will work through examples of the various inputs and how they are presented for a planning application that is not able to deliver policy levels of affordable housing.

  • Build costs – including sources of information and acceptable structure
  • Existing Use Value
  • Applying an acceptable premium to create a Benchmark Land Value
  • Developer return
  • Gross Development Value – including acceptable sources

We will then run through worked examples on all of the above and show how the information is presented including summary and cashflows. 

 

Format

This is a 2-hour course delivered online via Teams (11:00-13:00).

Entry Requirements

This course is designed for anyone required to carry out or contribute to, financial appraisals for planning purposes or those wishing to understand the required process.
