APM Project Management Qualification August 2026

The APM Project Management Qualification (SQCF Level 7) is a qualification aimed at project professionals who are looking to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of all key areas of project management.

The qualification is intended to help you achieve knowledge and understanding of all areas of project management that will support you when you are involved in projects from individual assignments through to large capital projects. You’ll learn how project management elements interact and how projects fit into a strategic and commercial environment.

Candidates are most likely working in a project environment with 2-3 years of experience as a project professional or be actively undertaking a project management apprenticeship or degree.

This qualification is perfect if you are aiming to advance your career, enhance your employability, and gain a broad understanding of project management without focusing on a specific methodology.

 

Note: This Session is a 3 day session within 2 weeks from 11th, 12th, 13th  and 18th, 19th and 20th August

Course Plan

The course covers all aspects of project management and is aimed at delegates that have successfully passed the Project Fundamentals Qualification or have project management experience, it is assessed via a 2.5 remote examination.

Format

Duration: 6 days plus pre-course preparation

This is a classroom-based course with required reading of the APM Project Management Study Guide in preparation.

 

Day 1 | 11th August | 9:30 - 16.30

Day 2 | 12th August | 9.30 - 16:30

Day 3 | 13th August | 9:30 - 16:30 

 

Day 4 | 18th August | 9:30 - 16.30

Day 5 | 19th August | 9.30 - 16:30

Day 6 | 20th August | Revision Session and Practice | Time TBC

 

The APM Project Management Qualification is assessed through a 2.5 hour online exam. The exam includes 40 questions worth a total of 90 marks, covering all learning objectives in the syllabus. The question types include:

  • Multiple response (20 questions worth 1 mark each)
  • Select from list (5 questions worth 2 marks each)
  • Short response (5 questions worth 2 marks each)
  • Long response (10 questions worth 5 marks each)

There is an optional break of up to 30 minutes between the two parts of the exam.

 

Cancellation of a scheduled examination 

A candidate may cancel their attendance at an examination without incurring any charge, provided that such cancellation is communicated no later than five (5) calendar days prior to the scheduled date of the examination.

In the event that a candidate cancels their attendance within five (5) calendar days of the scheduled examination date, the candidate shall be liable for a Cancellation Fee . This charge shall apply without exception.

Non‑attendance at scheduled examination

In the event that a candidate has booked to attend an examination and fails to attend at the scheduled date and time, the candidate shall be liable for the full cost of the examination (Qualification Fee). No exceptions to this requirement shall be permitted.

You must contact your APM Accredited Training Provider if you are unable to attend your examination, as they are the only party authorised to cancel the booking.

 

Suggested preparation

Joining instructions are sent to delegates approximately 4 weeks before the course start date. Delegates should read the study guide at least once and complete the short answer questions before the course - 14 hours of precourse study is required. 

All trainees will be provided with:

  1. One copy of the APM’s Study Guide for the course - please provide an appropriate delivery address in the booking form so we can send this to all delegates
  2. A comprehensive handout in electronic format

Entry Requirements

Candidates should have completed APM Project Fundamentals Qualification or have experience in Project Management.

Certification

Project Management Qualification issued by the Association for Project Management (RQF level 4, SCQF level 7)

Optional associate / full membership of the Association for Project Management (subject to work assessment and fee)
