The two day APM Project Fundamentals Qualification introduces the main project management terminology, tools & techniques and is for those wishing to gain a broad understanding of the principles of the profession.

The principle course content comprises the APM Project Fundamentals syllabus, which deals with generic project managenment topics, in order to prepare delegates for the PFQ exam.   However the HATC/M3 course also takes examples from the affordable housing development sector to help delegates use these in their everyday work to improve their project management skills.

Housing Development Financial Viability Explained

This one day course explains the main ways in which financial viability for housing schemes is assessed, covering housing for rent, shared ownership and outright sale. It explains terms such as yield, payback, discounted cash flows, net present value, internal rate of return and others, so that users of viability appraisal tools understand what these figures mean.

Acquisition, Feasibility and Project Planning for Development

This two day course follows on from Understanding the Development Process, and looks in more detail at the early stages in development management, including site finding, negotiation, valuation, project planning and the conveyancing process. Including undertaking feasibility studies focusing on common legal and technical issues that arise on housing development sites.

Introduction to Affordable Housing and Development

This course is aimed at those wishing to understand more about affordable housing and housing development.  Whether new to the sector or just wanting to find out more:

1. What is affordable (social) housing and who is it for ?

2. Who is responsible for delivering housing?

3. How is affordable housing paid for?

4. What is 'Planning' in the UK?

5. How do we make sure housing is safe and comfortable?

6. Private (open mareket) housing development

7. Jargon and myths   

We will also have plenty of time for discussion about anything that is relevant to the subject, the idea of this training is for attendees to find out things that they want or need to understand.  The trainer has many years of experience in delivering all tyes of housing.  The purpose of the course is to explain jargon, debunk myths and create a friendly environment for all  the 'stupid' questions we don't like to ask colleagues.
