Technical and implementation
System requirements
Locator Plus uses components in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or above and will run on any Windows system with that minimum installation. A typical installation requires about 11Mb of hard disk space A setup program deals with all the technicalities of installation. We are happy to provide onsite implementation but this has never been required.
Network installation
The same version of Locator Plus can be installed either on a standalone system, on a file server, or on a Terminal Services/Citrix server. When running from a file server, it will be necessary to install two DLL’s on each client machine. We provide a setup program that will install and register these DLL’s for you. Locator Plus runs well from a Terminal Services/Citrix server and no files need to be installed on the client.
Integration with job ordering systems
Locator Plus has been integrated with systems from most of the leading suppliers, including Orchard Information Systems, IBS, Civica, Academy, Aareon, In4Systems and others. Precise details of the integration vary but you can expect that users will be able to launch Locator Plus from the system and transfer one or more SOR items into the correct fields on the job ordering screen, complete with any changed quantities and added comments. Your supplier will usually be familiar with Locator Plus and can advise you on how to configure their system to allow Locator Plus integration. Configuring Locator Plus usually just involves changing a couple of options. Even without any formal integration, Locator Plus offers a basic click and paste of SOR codes that many users have found adequate for their requirements.
